Enter your refrigerator brand and model — or the part number on your current filter — and get the exact compatible water-filter part number, cross-references, and generic options.
Refrigerator manufacturers reuse a handful of filter housings across many models and model years, and the housings are not interchangeable. This tool resolves your fridge to the right filter two ways:
Genuine vs. certified generic: for most filters an NSF 42/53-tested aftermarket cartridge fits and costs far less. The exception is GE's RPWFE and XWFE, which carry an RFID chip — a chip-less generic can disable the dispenser, so those need genuine or a verified-chip replacement. We flag that in your result.
Important: the part number printed on the filter you're replacing is always the ground truth. If it differs from our result, buy that number.

Usually no. For most refrigerators a certified aftermarket filter (look for NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 on the packaging) fits the same housing and works fine for less money. The main exception is GE's RPWFE and XWFE filters, which have an RFID chip — a chip-less generic can stop the dispenser from working, so those are best bought genuine or as a verified-chip replacement.
It's printed on the filter cartridge itself — pop it out and read the code (for example DA29-00020B, LT700P, EDR1RXD1, MWF). That number is the most reliable way to find a replacement, which is why this tool lets you search by it directly.
Some model series used different filters across model years. When we can't narrow it to one, we show every filter that series is known to use. Pull your current filter and match its printed part number to the row — that resolves it.
About every six months, or sooner if the flow slows or the water tastes off. Many fridges also track gallons and turn on a “replace filter” light. Old filters can actually add taste and bacteria, so don't stretch them too long.
Manufacturers and resellers sell the same physical filter under several codes — the OEM number, a packaging variant, and the Kenmore or everydrop equivalent. Any of those codes gets you the same cartridge, so matching any one of them is a valid buy.
The database shows a last-updated date at the top of the page. Cross-references are checked against manufacturer and retailer listings. Brands occasionally supersede a filter (GE replaced XWF with XWFE, for example) — always confirm against your current cartridge before buying.
